I grew up on the sunny isle of Trinidad and Tobago, where I graduated from the School of Veterinary Medicine, Trinidad, West Indies in 1998. Immediately following my graduation I worked as a teaching assistant in the department of parasitology for 1 year and then the department of Large Animal Surgery and Medicine.
My love for companion animals lead me to start a small animal mobile practice, serving over 800 clients on the island. I finally found the opportunity to further my career in Ontario Canada in 2001. After completing my external exams in 2003, I started working as an associate veterinarian in North Town Veterinary Hospital. It built the foundation for my present experience as an emergency and general practice veterinarian; practice owner and mentor to new upcoming graduates.
I’ve worked in many areas of Ontario including Brampton, Mississauga, Kleinburg, The Beaches, Toronto, Burlington and Oakville, where I have been fortunate to meet some amazing people; veterinary teams, industry leaders, clients, great friends and best of all, my furry patients.
My goal to be the best veterinarian that I can be. I know that sounds cliché, but what defines a good veterinarian? In my opinion, it means having a deep love and compassion for your furry patients. True dedication, care and interest in their health, well-being and quality of life. Its understanding their way; their means of communicating with us; how we interact with them and how that affects them. In many ways advocating for them. A good veterinarian also means providing a great service to our clients, educating, being there when they need you and advising them, as they are the guardians for our patients. My goal as a veterinarian also is to explore and aim to perfect my many passions in other areas of veterinary medicine including dentistry, dermatology, critical care medicine, emergency and alternative medicine, including TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine).
Life is a balance and it would not be complete without spending quality time with the ones you love- my loving wife and my best furry friend and sheltie, “Marcel”. I also love hiking, swimming, traveling and martial arts.
